Who am I?

Though the pseudonym I use online is Hoshiko Usagi the name I use in that place called real life is Renee Brown. (and even that's not completely accurate-Renee is my middle name. No, you don't get to know my first.) I'm something of a very odd person-my heritage is that of Native American, African American and Irish, but my love and passion is with the Japanese culture, hence my online name. I've been teaching myself the language and about the culture since I was 13, with marginal success. Very early on in my life, I decided, without a doubt, that I wanted to be a novelist, though I loved many areas of the arts including music, studio art, theater art, and dance. However, the English language was the medium I best felt I could communicate and entertain with. It wasn't until I was halfway through middle school that I even turned to art as an outlet, and then not seriously until I was about nineteen. That was when I decided to take the novel I had been working on for five odd years, and publish it on the web-as a web comic. As far as other aspects of myself, physically I'm about 5'5, and heavier than I'd like to be, though I'm told I don't show it. I was born February 8th, 1984 (and for those of you who are very astute, that would indeed put my 21st birthday as being on Mardi Gras, 2005.) in the land of cracked bells and cheese steaks, also known as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Last year, however, I've moved to Tucson, AZ and am currently living with my boyfriend, DOPR. (He values his privacy highly, and does not wish his name to be known on the web) I'm a faithful Christian, but former pagan, which does lend itself to some interesting world views and a more open minded approach to nearly all things.
Where does my inspiration come from?
Honestly, I get my inspiration from everywhere, and while that may sound like a cop out, it's actually very true. For the art of storytelling and literary inspiration I use to do Hidden Disguises, I use C.S Lewis, Bruce Coville, Lloyd Alexander, and Richard Adams. Art wise, is where the everywhere comes in. I tend to turn to real life to see how things move, are shaded, how they look. But if you mean specific artists, a Mr. Jordan Kinoshita is one of the artists I admire and gain inspiration from, as well as Amber Panyko, Tawana Gilroy, and Albert Temple, along with a few personal friends of mine none of you likely know.
What are my hobbies?
I love to read whenever I have a spare moment, particularly fantasy and science fiction books, and I'll spend the time usually trying to pick out the mysteries in Harry Potter. When I have a mind to it, I'll pluck out a few songs on my guitar or screech through a song or two on my violin. I do still write, though my current projects are not on the web just yet. There's also computer programming, gaming, various arts and crafts, and the whole art thing I like to do.
Who are my idols?
That's a very tricky question for me. My idols tend to be people I've personally known, people who have inspired me personally and because of that many of them are teachers I've had over the years, particularly in High School, who pushed me to do my best, even when I resisted. Celebrity wise, however, I suppose my two idols would have to be Patrick Stewart and Robin Williams. Patrick Stewart for just being a terrific actor in general, and Robin Williams for making me laugh. They're both amazing people. Real person wise, my idol would have to be 2. He isn't afraid to speak his mind or champion causes he feels are worth it and be willing to accept the consequences of his actions. He is open minded enough to understand, if not personally accept, other points of view, and is intelligent and very funny. He's everything I'd like to be in a less tactful package.
